African Inspired Ceramic Collection

I was inspired to create this vessel by studying various ancient and modern African pots on display in Manchester Art Galleries and Museums.This lead to taking on a number of commissions on the same theme.

                                                                                            All of my pot drums have been inspired by Africa and are influenced by The Tuesday Night Drummers. I have made numerous Doumbeck style drums,I use stoneware clay because it carries a good resonance, I also use very little glaze for decoration as I think it effects the quality of the bass. All drums are made using the coil technique and very thin natural goats skins are used for the doumbeck head. You can purchase one of these drums for £50.
